Perhaps- but that still doesn't stop it from being the truth.

I always thought you were a Victor Newman type.

If that isn't what you meant then perhaps you'd care to fully explain just what you *did* mean.

The floor is yours.

Actually, those who know me well think I'm more the Victor Borgia type.

Perhaps you should review all my postings on all the boards before making such a statement.

I don't think more is needed than this thread quite frankly.

It is self explanatory. What else needs to be elaborated upon?

I hate to have to repeat my self but it is not only my perception of ethics it is also that of many genealogical societies throughout the world. Obviously you will do what you feel to be correct in your own mind, just as I will do.

Fact Ancestry will pull down living people's information when database submitter information is unavailable

How would YOU like it if an old classmate whom you did NOT like called up a neighbor of yours trying to locate you for a reunion. Your neighbor the provides them your contact information without permission.

Would you like this? No. Personal information SHOULD be respected when at all possible. The problem is some researchers get lost in the information and forget what it's like on the other side of the coin.

Bravo!

I'd send you chocolates, roses, and a full day at the spa if I could get them thru this cable! *GRIN*

Err- unless the classmate already knew the location of the person how would they know which neighbor to call??

Once again- it doesn't matter who's perception it is; when it comes to posting personal information on a living person it is the poster's choice and NO ONE ELSE has a legal or moral right to castigate them for the choice they make as the choice is based on PERSONAL ethincs- not some concensus arrived at by a group of people or organizations.

Now- will you *PLEASE* stop abusing the carcass of this poor deceased equine!
