My only suggestion is to invest in Family Tree Maker. There may be other good programs. But FTM is what I have and it works well for me. You enter data once and then can view the information in ancestor and descendent trees, as a family group sheet, and so forth. Along with the information you can add photos and documents.

There is an index that includes all the people in the tree.

There is a Relationship Calculator that you can use to compare two people and come up with their relationship. Fourth cousins, twice removed, etc. This will dazzle your friends and relatives.

All this information can be exported in various ways including a Genealogy Report with footnotes.
