Wow - I'm really shocked by this. I responded to this thread (just above Ludlow) and it has been deleted, with no explanation and no message to me, either. My comments were to the general effect that (since susanbpl had not yet explained how she was contacted) perhaps there was an archived copy of her tree still findable through Google, and perhaps it dated back to the period two or three years ago when Ancestry posted all the trees with the owners' REAL names (not Ancestry usernames). That was the state of affairs when I first came across Mundia, and I responded by making my tree private, as well as complaining very loudly. I suggested that susan could check the current state of affairs by creating a new Mundia account, using an e-mail address not associated with her Ancestry account, and then search for a name that is fairly unique and should return her tree if her tree is there and searchable.
Now - can someone please enlighten me as to why that was deleted? Nothing about what I said was untrue, or expressed in abusive or profane terms, or even open to any real question - it's a matter of record that those things happened, and that Ancestry was at best slow to deal with them. Is someone really so thin-skinned that they think such matters can't be discussed openly?
This type of mentality factored into my decision to make the tree with my core family private, although I would have preferred not to do so. It's also part of what made me decide to change my "real" name so that it's simply my username, split into two parts (which the Ancestry computers accept - it does not interfere with credit card charges).
I'm really just flabbergasted that someone would delete the post - who's in charge of this board, anyway?
