It has been a problem for years, particularly on the Census pages. How about transcriptions that spell the surname of SNEED as LYNCH? Or the name MARTHA PARKER as WATHA PARDIE or the surname of COLEMAN as CALDON? One county in North Carolina had dozens of SNEEDs in it in 1870 & 1880, but Ancestry didn't have any listed when I looked for them about 3 years ago, I ended up submitting corrections for each of them for those years. Those are just a few of the names I've corrected over the years, but they are by no means the only ones. And yes, as someone else has mentioned, OCR is terrible on this site, one of the worst things I hate is getting a hit for a name like JOHN SMITH, where JOHN is on one section of the page, and SMITH is 20 lines away on the far side of the page, and that's if you are lucky.
