Has anyone else run into this problem? As of late, I have been given numerous "hints" to FindAGrave listings via Ancestry and when I click on the link to take me to their website, I am told that the link is no longer valid. I have checked the FindAGrave site numerous times for various people and it is not a matter of the URL being redefined...the people/listings are no longer in their database.
I suspect these vacant hits have something to do with Ancestry's acquisition of FindAGrave and many volunteer's subsequent action to remove their work. I know a number of volunteers were not happy that their contributions were purchased and claimed to have deleted information. I don't know the legal implications of those actions. I am assuming that Ancestry has records of what they bought, when they bought it - as they paid to acquire it. Is Ancestry working to replace the data removed or legally reinstate it? Bottom line, it is still an indication of a "hit" just not as directly useful.
