My anti-virus alerted me to an apparent attack on my computer early this afternoon (Web Attack: Rig Exploit Kit Website 4) which unnerved me a bit. ...looks for and targets systems with out of date java and flash installations. These target computers are identified via malevolent but innocuous looking "ads" ("malvertisements") that, it is said, are appearing more and more frequently and even on top-tier websites...like facebook (hopefully not ACOM or it's sundry properties).
Checking my java, I was surprised to find an outdated installation...which I immediately updated. Not sure if that's what made me susceptible to this attack, but I'll be watching this more closely in the future. You should do so as well.
Update: I'm uninstalling java to see if I can live without it
