A more detailed trick:
Create a new (and generic) profile , enter a name the suits your purposes, in this case perhaps, (given) : Family, (surname) Story, give it a recent birth date year and no death date, make sure the button "deceased" is not ticked. After creating the profile, detach it from any relationships it is attached to (you can only create a new profile via an attachment to another profile).
As Burgess cited above, attaching a story or image is hidden from public view, as long as it is attached to a least ONE living profile This is when a generic living profile comes in handy as the go-to, to hide images and stories attached to (deceased) profiles in a public tree.
