The 1870 census used to list the entire family on the census - at least a few days ago it did. Today, it only lists one individual person on the display page (not sure what it is called) - the one you click after getting a hint link to the 1870 census.
Now, in order to put in an entire family, I have to go look at the image, then go to each person to find the hint, or search for the person.
With the way it was a few days ago, I would add each person, then from that person, click on the link to the 1870 image just added, go down the list to the next person in the family and add their record. It was tedious but I got each one in the family done all at one sitting.
That was hard enough because there were no relationships taken on censuses before 1880. At least the entire family was shown on the Ancestry display screen.
