Good point, thanks for the head's up. I guess I could save two copies of my tree, one with and one without special characters. I am assuming if you do a DNA test you have to enter the information in the Ancestry (or other on line program) for it to identify matches. And have a currently active account. I am wondering if many people remain active after they complete their research. I am contemplating sighing up for one month annually to do a quick search to see if new databases can shed more light on areas where I have only sketchy information.
I am a little skeptical about the DNA testing and how much information it would provide. It might find some potential living relatives but I don't see how it could find anyone who died prior to DNA testing.
