Can I 'replace' an existing member tree?

I uploaded my tree to ancestry.com some time ago.
I use Family Tree Maker 2008 to keep all of my information.
I'd now like to upload my latest tree which has all the information from the existing tree plus a lot of new individuals and information. Is there a good approach to do this? I think I'd want to 'replace' the tree that is already there. But maybe that isn't possible or practical.
Thanks for any thoughts.
