Kilmington was in Somerset until 1896, thereafter transfered to Wiltshire by act of Parliament. This merely straightened out the boundry line between the two counties, but created a headache for the geneolagist a century later as not all of the records pertaining to the parish have been transfered from Somerset CRO Taunton to the Wiltshire CRO. Just to complicate matters further the latter has recently moved from Trowbridge to Chippenham.
