Problems with ordering copies

I contacted Ancestry with no reply so I'm hoping maybe one of you can help. I found some records in the New York Passenger Lists and I clicked on the "order copy" but it doesn't do anything. A new box pops up on my screen and it just runs and runs as if it's going to do something but doesn't. Has anyone else had this problem? And if so, is there anything I can do to get this task accomplished? Thanks for your time!!

New York Passenger Lists, 1820-1957--some yrs have only the crews, not the passengers

I have 4 relatives that I know for sure were on the Marine Jumper, 28 May 1949. I have been unable to locate their names in the index for the New York Passenger Lists, 1820-1957. I have now determined why they are not in the index.

The microfilm for this ship is for the crew and employees only. I then went to the month of May 1949 for this database. I checked a sampling of the ships and all images were for the crew and employees only. There were no passengers on the lists digitalized. The sampling I did was to go to the first ship for each day of the month of May in 1949 and checked the images. For all 31 days of May I checked 1 ship manifest and for each one the images are for the crew and employees only.

I did not check other months in 1949 or any other year so I don't know how many months or years are missing the passengers.

I contacted Tech Support about this and have not received a reply yet.

Kathy

How complete are the transcribed ship manifests in Ancestry's Immigration Collection?

Totally frustrated at this point!

I have found that an ancestor of mine traveled aboard the vessel "Plutarch" from Liverpool to New York bet. 1855 - 1857. (This info from the New York Emigrant Savings Bank Records also available at Ancestry.com)

My research shows that this particular ship was not even in service until 1856 so that 1855 date is clearly wrong BUT even though I have checked EVERY manifest for the "Plutarch" I cannot find my ancestor on any of them.

Realizing that it could be a transcription error, I even went the route of checking EVERY page of EVERY actual manifest and still came up empty.

Can anyone advise if EVERY extant manifest has been transcribed and included in this database?

Thanks!
Kathy

Denis Shanahan
Known sailing dates for Plutarch:
29 October 1856
17 Jul 1857
16 Nov 1857
26 Apr 1858
13 Sep 1858
12 May 1859
15 Sep 1859
If anyone out there has access to any immigration databases I would appreciate a lookup. I am trying to find Frank Bakazan and/or Elizabeth Bakazan. They came here, I believe, between 1915 and 1920. I am at a loss as I cannot find anything on them. They allegedly came here from Germany but were in austro/hungary. Anyway, I would appreciate any info anyone has. Oh, her maiden name was Keller and She was I believe Hungarian.
Thankyou
Bob

Ship Name Search Field Not Working Properly

There is a problem when using the Search Immigration Records in the Ship Name field at:
http://ancestry.com/search/rectype/default.aspx?rt=40

For example put in the last name Bruse, and in the Ship Name put in Allemannia. (does not matter if use exact search or not)

The reply comes back as "Your Search for Bruse returned no matches"

Now go back to the Search Immigration Records and instead of entering Allemannia under Ship Name, cut and paste it into the Keyword search field.

This correctly lists the 4 records in the New York Passenger Lists.

The Ship Name field when entering Allemannia did not give the correct listings but the Keyword search did. I have also tried this on several known ship names and still does not work correctly unless you use Keyword search and not Ship Name search fields.

Immigration Records

I need your expert advice. I have found records stating that my ancestors immigrated to the U.S. in 1874, arriving at the Port of Baltimore prior to traveling on to Minnesota.

The date of immigration has been past on from generation to generation as Sept 18, 1879, not 1874 as recorded in volume 8 of the Leo Baca reference guide. In fact, one of the children was not even born until 2 years later...

Question: How do I find an accurate date?
Could the error be in the NARA records or just in Leo Baca's guide?

Name: Franz Prokosch
Year: 1874
Age: 37
Place: Baltimore
Source Publication Code: 206.6
Primary Immigrant: Prokosch, Franz
Annotation: Date and port of arrival. Also includes country of origin and name of ship. Place of intended destination may also be provided. Extracted from National Archives Microcopy 255, rolls 1 through 31.
Source Bibliography: BACA, LEO. Czech Immigration Passenger Lists, Volume VIII. Richardson, TX: Author, 1707 Woodcreek, Richardson, TX 75082, 1999. 192p.
Page: 127

Other family members included: Barbara (Wife), Josef, Georg, Barbara (daughter), , Magdalena, Marie

What are your recomendations?

Mark

US Immigration Collection - Complaint/Question

I use to have access to the immigration ships as part of my US Collection fee.

Now I can no longer access them as they have been split out into their own collection and I have to pay an additional fee to get them.

When did this occur? It seems grossly unfair to take away databases I use to have access to and make them their own collection and ask me to pay even more.

Tom

San Francisco Passenger Lists added to US Immigration Collection

Last week we added San Francisco Passenger Lists to the Ancestry.com US Immigration Collection. The initial release contains approximately 250,000 names from 1890-1916 and will be added to regularly over the next several months until complete.

When finished, this index will contain a list of individuals who entered the port of San Francisco between the years of 1890-1953.

L.
US Immigration Collection updated

Last Friday we added approximately 150,000 new names to the New York Petitions for Naturalization database, adding additional years from 1907-1929.

This update has linked images to the index cards, which include the immigrants name and a reference number that can be used to find further information about the immigrant. Because dates were not noted during this time period, all of the cards appear under "Unknown date".

The next scheduled release for the US Immigration Collection is the first installment of San Francisco Passenger Lists a major database that we will be working on throughout the summer.

Best regards,
L.
Question about NYC Passenger Lists

I was wondering if the NYC Passenger Lists are *known* to be completely scanned, indexed, and linked. I know from the Hamburg index that the ship "Doctor Barth" left in the spring of 1873 or 1874 (don't remember off-hand which it is), but the Ancestry.com shows the Dr. Barth only up until the very end of 1872. Could this be an oversight of some sort?

Thank you,
Rich

(P.S. I did e-mail support, but got a canned answer about the fact that they can't do private research for individuals.)
