Thank you Diane, your information was very helpful. It is written as St. Marks on the death certificate, but perhaps I am reading it incorrectly, and taking a second look I see that. I will call the numbers provided, again Thank you.

Hi - my name is Diane and I live in Glace Bay, NS. I see this message is older but I will send the info along - St. Mary's church is located in Glace Bay and it is Anglican. The church is located on Marconi St. and office #902-849-4747. The church rectory is located on 22 Grant St. #902-849-9063. I cannot think off-hand where the cemetery is located, it maybe located on the outskirts of town. I tried to find a St Mark's church but none that I see, and I don't recall a St. Mark's church. I checked through all the religions. There were many churches in our area closed or closing because of cost. I will look into it a little more and if I find any info, I will send along. Take care Diane

My great grandfather, James Cole, died in 1900 at age 31 at sea on the Bay of Fundy, City of Monticello disaster. He was buried in the Roman Catholic cemetery in Yarmouth. His family were all Roman Catholic from Ireland and his brother Michael, a priest in Nova Scotia.
Is anyone near enough to the cemetery to locate and photograph his final resting place?
Though I have his birthdate from his baptism in Ireland, they may not have known it at the time.
Thank you.

Karen,

That would be wonderful! I have just been looking at your photos on My Heritage - and two things are obvious: 1. We hang out in a lot of the same cemeteries (Bass River, Economy, Portaupique Beach and others) and 2. If you are related to even a few of those folks in your photos, we are definitely related. We'll have to try and figure it out sometime. I descend from Gambles, Starritts, Crawfords, Fultons, Creelmans, Johnsons, Dills, Davisons, Campbells, Cooks and all their inter-related families. Fun eh!

I live in Saskatoon so it's a bit of a hike but I really fell in love with your part of the country! We should put our heads together and see what photos each of us has and which ones we need. I am presently working on the Portaupique Beach Cemetery. Do you have any there?

Marilyn

Thank you so much for your help. My friend and I drove out there (in my 4x4 truck) one day but did not see any sign. Did see the Gamble Lake turnoff. So the cemetery is fairly close to that turnoff? Perhaps we drove too far....we were to the Silica Lake turnoff. You are definitely correct when you say the road is in poor condition! I too have relatives there as well and would be thrilled to see it and photograph the headstones there. I am descended from Fultons.

Exactly a year ago today, I spent an afternoon at the Castlereagh Pioneer Cemetery - quite a thrill for me. It is quite difficult to find as the road is in very poor condition. A 4 wheel drive or quad would be the ideal vehicle to reach it. To find it you to north from Bass River on the New Minas Road and turn north on the Old Castlereagh Road. These roads are quite well marked. Follow Old Castlereagh Road for about 15k and you will pass the turnoff to Gamble Lake. Just a short way along, you will see the sign for the Castlereagh Pioneer Cemetery. The cemetery itself is set in the woods and is very overgrown, but a good search will find some stones in good condition. Of the fifty some odd burials I have in my records, I found about a dozen stones that were readable. Many of the graves, I understand, were marked by simple field stones and the heavy moss has covered any markings that may be there. Many of my ancestors are buried there and it is a beautiful place to see. ps - Take lots of bug spray!

Looking for the burial site of John H. Stuart and Sarah Rebecca (carpenter) Stuart. Sarah was born 4 Jun 1834 and died 08 Jun 1910 in Malden, Middlesex, Massachusetts BUT here death certificate states she is buried in Dartmouth Nova Scotia. That is probably because her husband is buried there. They belonged to the Church of England although it appears she may have been a Baptist at the time of her death.

Hi I found this post containing all these Treens. Leander Chisholm Treen husband of Melissa Caroline opened the Port Hoood Bottling Co around 1904 in Port Hood C.B. The company ran until 1908 when he passed away and the company was then taken over by Roderick C MacDougall who was later joined by Alexander Chisholm Gillis. I have photos of the bottles used by the company. I thought I would post this information for anyone who may be interested

Well, one should never reply to "bullied" remarks, but I will.

So, you are one of those personality types.

How boring is the person that chooses to pick's on another person just for something to do?

Oh no that's a bully, right.....and an adult one to boot. (sorry for such bad sentence structure)

To think something so minor could make you reply in such an ignorant manner only serves to speak volumes of your pompous attitude.

Pompous as in:

"the pompous waiter served us in the manner of a person doing some poor soul a great favor" OR "having or exhibiting self-importance : arrogant"

One can imagine how you react to something of actual importance? Do you help or hinder? It's the reason behind your actions that count, no your action if well intended, or do you see the jar half empty?

Hi,

I am looking for someone who can take some high quality pictures of Ebenezer Cemetery and post them to existing memorials on the Find A Grave website:

http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gsr&GScid=...

I have entered 19 memorials, but there are only nine headstones in the graveyard (they appear to have multiple people listed on each stone). I would also like to have a photo of the Cemetery entrance sign. Probably this would amount to 10 to 15 pictures. (One other thing, I would like to be able to put these photos in my family tree as a tribute for the family members named on the headstones. You will receive credit for taking the original photos.)

The site is on Route 104 just past Saltsprings going west at the foot of Mount Thom.

If you are interested, please contact me (prior to taking photos, as I wouldn't want you to travel there if someone else has filled this request) at:

kaylevy [at] juno [dot] com
OR
kaylevy [at] gmail [dot] com

Thanks so much for your help,
Kay :-)

Hello,
In my family tree there was an Isabel Cameron who married a Dan McCulloch. They were my GGGgrandparents and resided in Mt.Thom Pictou County, Nova Scotia. Isabel must have been born between 1823-1830. Still doing research. I think Isabel's father was a Hugh Cameron and I know her mother's maiden name was McLeod. Is this helpful in any way?

Sincerely,

Lynn Fenn-Edgington
