Hello!

Here are the links to your Burns headstones in St. Marys Cemetery. They're all available online (as well as all the other stones in this cemetery) at http://geneofun.on.ca/cems/ON/ONPER13331 . They're indexed by surname, and there are a few more Burns than you've asked for. Here are the ones you requested:

Archibald and Euphame (as it is on the stone):
http://geneofun.on.ca/names/photo/795085

Archie and Maria E:
http://geneofun.on.ca/names/photo/794966

Adam W and Bertha A (nee Dufton):
http://geneofun.on.ca/names/photo/793612

Hugh and Margaret S (nee Finnie):
http://geneofun.on.ca/names/photo/793001

I hope these are helpful! :)
Alison

Re: St.Thomas Cemetery St.Thomas Ontario

Hi Karen,

Both of these cemeteries are photographed and indexed at http://cemetery.canadagenweb.org
St. Thomas is almost finished, and St. Marys is complete as of 2010.

James Leslie Cornock's stone in St. Thomas is at this link:
http://geneofun.on.ca/names/photo/1179306

There are several other Cornocks here, including Sarah Ann (Dodds) and Martha M Cornock. They're listed on page 5 of the C index.

When it comes to Rachel Laura Eddy and Leonard John Thompson - I can't seem to find them in St. Marys Cemetery, or in any cemetery around here (searched the Ontario Cemetery Finding Aid and the photographic database that I mentioned earlier.) The photographic index is at the following link, if you want to take a look: http://geneofun.on.ca/cems/ON/ONPER13331

FYI, St. Marys is in Perth County Ontario, about a 1 hour drive north of St. Thomas (north east of London Ontario.) There are no Eddys in this cemetery, but there are a few Eedys (also spelled Edye). There are some Thompsons and Thomsons buried here - maybe there is a connection.

I hope this is helpful - Good luck! :)
Alison

Re: Waite Cemetery, Brighton Ontario

Hi Stephanie.

I checked my CD of Cramahe Township cemeteries and scanned down to all burials for Nichols, and I did not see a Benjamin or a Margaret in any of the Cramahe Cemeteries, including Waite Cemetery.

Waite Cemetery does, however, list these Nichols:
Marshall B. NICHOLS, 1852 - 1937;
his wife C. Elizabeth BRAY, 1861 - 1928;
Percy E. NICHOLS, 1898 - 1963

I then tried the online Ontario Cemetery Finding Aid (OCFA)and noted that there is a Benjamin Nichols in Lakefield Cemetery in Smith Township, Peterborough County.
But the database does not show birth and death years.
I came up empty for Margaret Nichols.

So I then tried the OCFA for Margaret "Richards", and I found 2 of them listed as being in Castleton Cemetery, just a few minutes from where I live.
One is a Margaret Ellen Richards(d/o John & Eliza Richards).
The other is listed as Margaret Lillian Richards (w/o R. Eric McKague).
If the first Margaret in Castleton is the one you are looking for, just let me know.

Otherwise, I'm not entirely sure what's up with Ben and Margaret...

Regards,
Greg Honey
"Honey_Greg" on Ancestry.
Castleton, Ontario
greg.honey@live.com
He died around 1867, and lived in Egremont or Normanby Tp. at the time. His wife was Elizabeth, so if this is one of those stones where his name was illegible, but "husband of Elizabeth Waddell" was not, it could be him.

Hi there:

I'm hoping with new information to present, someone, somewhere might have some answers with respect to Andrew WILKIE's death. I'm searching for an obituary, Certificate of Death and/or location of burial.

Andrew WILKIE was born to Alexander WILKIE, Sr., and Sarah Jane JOHNSTON 15 Feb 1887, in Ottawa, Ontario. He married Rebecca Elizabeth CHILCOTT, Mar 1910 at Alwyn Methodist Church on the Quebec side. He would have passed between 1910-1924 (since my great grandmother, Rebecca remarried in 1924 as she was a widow).

I searched Ancestry but was unsuccessful locating a Certificate of Death despite deaths in Ontario available on Ancestry until 1938.

Andrew WILKIE's immediate family:

Alexander WILKIE, Sr. (Father)
Born: 20 Jun 1850, Scotland
Immigration: 1873
Occupation: Painter

Sarah Jane JOHNSTON (Mother)
Born: 3 Aug 1852, Masham, Quebec
Death: 6 Apr 1932

Alexander WILKIE, JR. (Brother)
Born: 15 Jul 1876
Death: 18 Aug 1935
Occupation: Bookbinder

Allan WILKIE (Brother)
Born: 10 May 1879
Occupation: Mason

William Beattie WILKIE (Brother)
Born: 21 Mar 1881
Occupation: Moulder

Beatrice WILKIE (Sister)
Born: 23 Mar 1892

If you have any information that can help, please reply to this message thread.

The attachment is the text for a 1951 marriage announcment in the Windsor Star (there was a photo accompanying it). I don't know if this is connected to your Georgina Brown. The general age of the woman who was married would be consistent with a daughter of Georgina's. The only oddity is that there is no mention of Harry in spite of the fact that he did not die until 1959. Do you know if Georgina and Harry remained together? Did they have any children that you could use for clues? Harry's obit does mention that Georgina pre-deceased him.

Hailey,

I don't know how new the stones are that you are referring to, but most of the stones moved from St John's Anglican Church to the new Bowmanville Cemetery were moved during the 1920s. Some older ones might not have been in very good shape at that point. I saw a few of the originals on the ground when I visited Bowmanville Cemetery in 2012, so I am not surprised that descendant family members or perhaps historical/genealogical organizations may have done the good deeds.

John

That also makes sense. I have an update to add to this family member based on another member sharing information concerning Dot's father, Howard Brown - his obituary. Looks like Dot moved from Winchester or Carleton Place at one point to Kirkland Lake. Maybe, someone out there has other clues with respect to his passing i.e. an obituary, location of burial, marriage, children etc.

Those would be 7's. It's just a particular style of handwriting that makes them appear similar to a 4.

I think that the family was simply late in reporting the birth for the purposes of official registration (a home birth perhaps?), which is why the birth date is not chronologically in sync with the other entries on that page.

No, I am not - I think I made a typo, because I have the same document as you. Though after taking a second look if you notice when Dot's birth was registered it was registered September 1904 - how can this be if he was born December 1906?

The other two birth records alongside his all are in 1904 and registered same year...something doesn't add up with Dot's birth year.

Thoughts?

I don't have any information regarding a husband, remarriage, or any children.

The only thing I know is my mother shared with me that Queen had went to the beauty parlour to have her hair done and mentioned to the hair dresser she had a headache. She returned home and went to bed and supposedly died because she had a brain aneurysm.

I would appreciate any information anyone could share.

Louisa Florence BROWN (nee: LOCKHART); Howard J BROWN

Hi there:

I need some help locating a few ancestors of mine and all roads seem to lead to a dead end. I'm hoping someone, somewhere may have some valuable information they can share.

Louisa Florence Brown was born in 1882 in Perth, Ontario. She was born Louisa Florence Lockhart to James Lockhart and Margaret Canbog. Her first husband was William Edward Morris born about 1861 in Perth, Ontario and died 4 May 1923 in Perth, Ontario. They had 3 children together: Ellard W Morris, Elsa ("Elsie) M Morris, and Wilbert Morris.

Her second husband Howard J. Brown was born 5 November 1871, in Winchester, Ontario. Florence and Howard married in Carleton Place, Ontario June 30, 1925. No children from this marriage.

Howard J Brown married his first wife Annie May Hitsman September 19, 1894 in Winchester, Ontario. They had 8 children from this marriage: Gertrude Hilda Brown, 8 September 1895; Charles Harry Brown, 13 September 1898; Queen Victoria Brown, 24 May 1900; Winnifred Brown, 5 December 1902; Georgina Brown, 1904; Robert Dalton ("Dot") Brown, 22 December 1907; Thomas ("Tommy") Brown, April 1909; and George Howard Brown, 1913.

Based on my research Howard J Brown is "suppose" to buried at Maple Ridge Cemetery in Winchester, Ontario with his first wife Annie May Hitsman and youngest son, George Howard Brown. However, I can't be certain since the headstone doesn't show a date of death - I was told his death may not have been registered. For all's I know, he could be buried with his second wife, Louisa Florence. But again, no information for her.

As for Louisa Florence I believe she may be buried at Pine Grove Cemetery in Beckwith Township since it would make sense based on her second marriage and the fact Howard J Brown was an employee at the Findlay Foundry in Carleton Place.

http://ogsottawa.on.ca/cemeteries/show.php

But, I can't be certain...I'm hoping someone may hold the "key" to solve the mystery surrounding Louisa Florence and Howard J Brown.
His wife, Bridget Isabel (nee Palmer) d. 1937 Aug 28, and is buried in St. John Norway Cemetery in Toronto, so I'm assuming Archibald would be buried with her.
Looking for burial of Thomas Surman

Thomas Surman, son of Henry and Martha Surman, appeared in the 1861 Ontario Census in Ward #4 in Elma township, Perth County, Canada. He was listed with an age of 18 which agrees with his 18 November 1842 birth. The name was spelled as Serman or even perhaps German, but this was the correct family.

From the family bible of his father, Thomas died 14 July 1863. I am trying to establish the location of a grave for him. Any assistance is appreciated
