How to photograph worn tombstones?

Classification: Query
I'd like to find a way to somehow try to capture the engravings on some old family tombstones. Some are so worn, rubbings may not work. I heard part of a suggestion that referred to talcum powder or flour and a shiny reflective surface like a cookie sheet for photos. But I'm not sure how it's supposed to work. I did notice that this photo shows more shadow than I noticed with my eyes when I took the photo - but I can't read the bottom! Any ideas on how to take a legible photo?
