My grandfather was buried here as well. We visited in 1999 with out all the information available today. We got there with my mom and all she had was the original letter from 1945. We found the cemetery and Limey and fortunately there was a caretaker there. As someone else said, they were very friendly once they knew why you were there. He directed us to the Saint-Mihiel American Cemetery nearby. They looked up my grandfather and we hightailed it to the Lorraine Cemetery as we were heading back to Paris that evening. The gentlemen that met us were super nice. That was the first time my mom ever saw where her dad was buried. It was an adventure I'll never forget.
