I too am greatly distressed to find out about the possibilty of a private individual owning both the cemetery and its records, and who may have plans to build on the site! But I cannot find the postings on this message board which give that vital information to those searching the message board? If someone has kept these postings, could they please copy them and re-post them on the message board site?
I have been monitoring this site for some time, but just made my first posting in September and it DOES involve Evergreen Cemetery...I have two twin, infant great uncles who are buried there and had asked for assistance in finding out about cemetery records. I have the deed to the cemetery that my great grandfather, Theodore Schultze, purchased in 1888!
By-the-way...on the last page of the October, 2004 SUNSET magazine is a brief article about a judge from Leadville who gives tours through EVERGREEN CEMETERY on or about HALLOWEEN...perhaps he could be enlisted in saving the cemetery and "pursuading the "owner" to release the cemetery records to the public! If he doesn't want the records, there are plenty us out there who would love to have them kept in a public or private accessible archive or at least copied onto the Internet!
