For all of you that are searching for the grave of Joseph Curbow PLEASE NOTE - it is NOT proven that he is buried there. It is the logical place but there is no proof that I am aware of. (If there is - it would be great if you could share it here.) On August 1, 2008 my mother-in-law and I contacted Billy Kennedy at Mt. Moriah Church cemetery. Mr. Kennedy is the caretaker of the cemetery. He advised that he and several others searched for the grave of Joseph Curbow and his wife Mary - but unfortunately did not find it. But he says that does not mean they aren't there. He said there are many, many old graves and the older stones are so black that they are unreadable. He mentioned that they needed to be cleaned but they are not sure how to do that without damaging the stones. He says that his family (3-4 generations back) have been caring for the cemetery. There is also a big 100x100 grassy area that is unmarked but is supposed to be an Indian burial mound. Unfortunately the older church records did not survive...so there is no way to tell if Joseph/Mary Curbow were members of this church or are buried there. If anyone has additional information, please let me know.
