I know where the Morrison family cemetery is in Hancock Co. This is the graveyard of Tandy & Charity Morrison. I will journey there this spring and get the GPS coordinates if possible. It is in a very out of the way location. I am a 3rd great-grandson of Tandy & Charity. I do have a picture of their gravestone from a previous visit. It is in pretty good condition.
If you need to visit soon, you can get some rough directions from the book "The Forgotten Ones" by Newton.
Hope this helps.

The idea that shaving cream harms tombstones is nonsense promoted by people who you would think would know better.

All claims that shaving cream harms the stone are false, and pictures which putatively show the "before and after" of it really show damage that clearly has a different origin (usually spalling, but sometimes flour).

Websites that promote the idea that shaving cream harms tombstones are NOT authoritative (they are simply the regurgitated opinion of whoever wrote the page, which is why their reference to "professional conservators" never mention any actual humans by name), and have no research arm at all, which is why the claim is always vacuous, and never accompanied by any statistical metric.

All ACTUAL research shows that, if anything, shaving cream helps PROTECT the stone from the damage it would otherwise endure, such as spalling, and other forms of chemical weathering.

If you want the truth, just go to google and search for

shaving cream tombstone

...and read the first link.

Use NOTHING that will (potentially) damage the stone, especially the vulnerable older ones. NO CHEMICALS, no shaving cream, no hard brushes, no dry scrubbing, and the list goes on. Use nothing that leaves any kind of residue. Often, just a soft brush and clear water will get rid of the dirt and algae. I also use a reflecting screen (or even just a piece of aluminum foil) to read the stone better and not damage it.

MT Zion Lutheran Cemetery GenWeb Directory

CORRECTION NEEDED; REF: ELIZABETH HARRIS, WIFE OF ROBERT HARRIS SR.
The following information was found on the internet, regarding certain cemeteries located in Jefferson County, Kentucky, specifically Mt. Zion Lutheran Cemetery, and the grave of one Elizabeth Harris, wife of Robert Harris Sr., and possibly the mother of James B. Harris. It apparently was posted by a “Gen/Web Project” and is as follows:

“This transcription was taken from a book found in the Shelby County Public Library entitled, "Cemetery Records of Kentucky, Volume I, Jefferson County, Part I" compiled by LTC Robert C. Jobson (ret). Please email your coordinators if you have any questions or comments regarding this cemetery.

Harris, Elizabeth 1781 - 27 Jul 1866 wife of Robert Harris, daughter to Mildred Walker & Tarleton Goolsby
Harris, James B. 30 Dec 1812 - 12 Aug 1871 “

The Information in column III for Harris, Elizabeth is grossly incorrect and should be removed by whomever controls the Cemetery Directory in which it is contained, possibly (Metro Louisville - Jefferson County Kentucky GenWeb Project?). I attempted to email the appropriate “Coordinator(s)” but apparently he/she or they, are defunct…

Tarleton Goolsby was b in 1763 d 1838; Mildred Thornton Walker b 1782 d 1864, cannot be the parents of this Elizabeth; this, based on the known records and of course, the known DOB of Mildred Thornton Walker. Tarleton and Mildred did have a daughter called Elizabeth, b 1814, who married James B. Harris.

Therefore, based on the close proximity of the graves of James B Harris and the Elizabeth Harris, in question, and the obvious family connections, it is felt, with a degree of certainty, that the Elizabeth Harris in question, is the Mother of James B Harris, possibly the former Elizabeth “Betsey” Young, but, to date, no official-type source has been found, by this writer, to confirm this hypothesis.
I am seeking the burial place of George F Coulter (b. 1853 d.1 1909). His spouse was Mary E Crow (b. 1856 d. 1940). He was born in Washington Kentucky and that's where it's rumored he would have died. I am unable to find his burial place, even though many search results point to old Parker Burying Grounds(?).
Old Creech/New Creech Cemetary

I am looking for information on who is buried in the Old Creech/New Creech cemetaries in Harlan County, Kentucky. These cemetaries at one time where owned by the Creech Coal Company in Harlan as a place for the coal workers to bury their loved ones. These are NOT the Creech family/surname cemetaries. I have several relatives that are buried in these cemetaries. My grandmother has said that they are "up on a hill behind the new school (I think the school is named Lone Jack but I am not completely sure about that). There are two cemetaries up there; one on one hill and one on another. She said the last time they went up there to clean off my grandfather's father and mother's graves, they could't get to one of the cemetaries because it was so overgrown and full of rattlesnakes. I am hoping maybe someone transcribed them before they got that way. I am particularly looking for a Frank Smith who died in 1928 in the coal mines, his brother Robert Smith who died in 1927 in the coal mines and then their mother Rhoda Smith. I do not have a death date for her but it should have been between 1900 and 1908. They should be buried with George Smith who died in 1948 and his wife Della Smith. There is also the son of George and Della named James who died in 1970 that is supposed to have been buried up there as well.
Any info would be greatly appreciated!

I believe I can help you out in regards to the cemetery you mentioned. It is located in the Wisdom community of Metcalfe County, Kentucky. However, it is commonly referred to as the Pedigo Cemetery. Going on memory, I'd say there are 20-30 graves there. The vast majority are either Pedigos or Gilleys. The cemetery is surrounded by a farm that was once owned by Isaac Gilley, then Wilbur Gilley (his grandson), and is now owned by Patricia Gilley Druen, who is Wilbur's daughter . . . and my mother.

Several years ago I was at the MUHLENBURG Co., Ky. Genealogy Library, in Greenville, Ky. and I found a series of books listing the Muhlenburg cemeteries. (Incidently, Muhlenburg Co. is about 2-1/2 miles north of Kirkmansville, which is in Todd Co., Ky.). I xeroxed several of the indices of those books and in Volume #4 it lists Gates Cemetery #1 and #2. Apparently, they straddle Eaves Road. Apparenty those cemeteries are about 3-4 miles north of Kirkmansville. If you could contact that library I would think they would look in that volume and see if your Mary Jane is listed.
Good day
I am searching for all of our Bybee family members. Would love to hear from you about the info you may have in your interment book regarding burials of Bybees. You mentioned one Katherine B. Cornelison d. 1955 age 55, who might be a Bybee. We have a Katherine Bybee born 1899/1900 in Waco, Madison county, dau of Matthew T & Mary Witt Bybee.
Would you email me direct, thank you.
Leslie P.
Hi Shannon, thank you for your reply. I finally talked with the lady who owns the property this morning (7-16-2007). She said the crosses had upset her, and more people had been back to their property since we cleaned it up than before. She said she would "try" to get all the crosses placed back where they belonged. She said she didn't know my Great grandmother tombstone had been knocked over.

Reason more people have been to the cemetery, they can NOW see the cemetery. I will stop at their property each time before I go back to the cemetery and ask permission to be on their property. I don't want to get shot or arrested.

In 2002 my Cousin and her family from Michigan, my hubby and I from Indiana cleaned up the Old Tapscott Cemetery. My hubby made wooden crosses and I pained them white, we placed a cross and flowers at each grave site. You can view the before and after photos in the Casey archives.

We have been back every year. We were at the cemetery this week and all the crosses are GONE and my Greatgrandmother tombstone is laying on the ground where they have knocked it over.

I talked with a Judge in Casey and there is nothing we can do about it, the cemetery is on private property. Was told they can't mess with the graves, but they don't have to leave tombstones etc. We had permission in 2002 to place the wooden crosses etc., but the property is now owned by another person and he/she can do what they want. We have to get permission from the property owners since it's on private property to visit our loved ones. Now that everything is gone how will anyone know where they are buried?????

This would not be allowed to happen in Indiana.

Have you checked with the Gateway Museum Center in Maysville? They have books that cover pretty much every cemetery in Mason and Fleming counties, including old family cemeteries.

There is also a Ringo section in the main Flemingsburg Cemetery. It contains a number of burials that were moved there when the Ringo family cemetery was about to be flooded in the 1970s, but may have been there earlier with other Ringo family members. My 4th-g-grandmother Grace Glasscock (married names Rector, Quaintance), who was Alburtis Ringo's mother-in-law, is buried there.

Regrettably, I don't have the information you are requesting, however I am wondering if you know if this lady's husband Samuel Garrard Banks ever married a woman named Missouri Annie (don't know maiden name). She is the mother of my Great-grandfather William Albert Banks (1865-1941). I can't find verification of who his father is...only that he was born in Indiana according to the 1880 census. I think she married another Banks, maybe a brother of Samuel. I thought it was a James W. Banks born in 1805, but can't verify this. I've been searching for this answer for more than 5 years. (scream!)
If you have any information that could be of interest, I would most appreciate it.
Thanks,
Binnie
( Banks by birth)
Springdale Cemetery where James is buried is actually in Sebree, and the cemetery where Eliza and Louisa are buried is 7 miles from Sebree. Which suggests a more probably connection between Sophronia and Elijah/Rebecca Louisa.
I'm wondering, as was not uncommon in censuses, that the family called her Sophronia rather than by her first name, and so that's how she appears on the 1880 census becuase that's what the census taker was told.
Do you know where Mr Eastwood and his children moved, or are they still in Webster County in 1910?

How far are you going back? The "Old Lawrenceburg Cemetery" dates in 1800's, across the road is the "newer" one, but I know it dates back at least in the 1950's possibly before, as my husband's great- grandfather died in '57 and buried there. Both are listed as Lawrenceburg Cemetery. Could they have been buried just on a family cemetery off McKee Road?
