There is an 1895 Mississippi River Commission map that indicates a cemetery on or near Toledano Street, now at White Street in Orleans Parish. The New Orleans Regional ARCH has indicated that after 1930's this area was populated subdivision. Keeping in mind that the MRC was charged with maintaining information about RIVERS, and may have had additional information from RAILROADS, and older map references - this appears to be a good source of information. However, all newer maps of this area cannot confirm that a cemetery was or is at this location. It is possible that this cemetery was destroyed and then forgotten as it is near water on the Mississippi River and a local canal. More information is avaialable at louisianacemeteries.wikispaces.com including an excerpt of the mapped area from the Mississippi River Commission 1895. This cemetery is NOT Lafayette Cemetery No. 2.

A mystery!
