Unmarked burials are at this site per genealogy research conducted that include: 6 children and Jessie Cook Sr, and Minnie Cook Laenger. The last communication with LA DEPT of ARCHAEOLOGY in October 2012 indicated that they were UNSUCCESSFUL in contacting the landowner, Lee A. Jeter, Sr., Executive Director, Fuller Center for Housing NWLA, Building Homes, Building Lives, 318-221-7474.

The LA DEPT of ARCHAEOLOGY is aware of the power pole near the lone headstone on Freewater St. Shreveport, however, the LA DEPT ARCH cemetery documentation does not include a photograph of the electric pole AND the headstone together. See http://flic.kr/p/dKW44B According to JoAnn's research this location is owned by: Lee A. Jeter, Sr., Executive Director, Fuller Center for Housing NWLA, Building Homes, Building Lives, 318-221-7474. As of October 2012 none of the parties interested have been able to contact the landowner to make him aware of this family burial ground including the lone headstone. New home construction is slated to begin January 23, 2013 at this location (per JoAnn Cook Anderson) This photo below is the lone headstone found at Cook Family Cemetery where JoAnn's genealogy research has indicated unmarked burials of 6 children and 2 adults.
