Hi Debbie,
I have a tree posted on WorldConnect here on Rootsweb. http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~monahouser Type Mabee in the search box, and you'll see what I have.

If you have access to Ancestry.com Family trees, check out my Houser/Hauser Tree. It probably is more up-to-date in my research. You will find other Hauser trees there, too. Be careful about taking information -- sometimes people post data that's not been documented, and so sometimes contains errors. This should get you to my tree: http://trees.ancestry.com/tree/21909778/family
What was Melba's husband's first name?
My aunt had given me Maitland Mabee's name as my great-grandfather, so I started searching and found your post. His and Ethalyn's daughter Melba Mabee Clawson was my grandmother. My brother has begun a family tree on ancestry.com, but Maitland and Ethalyn is as far back as he has gone on the Mabee side. He only has their birth dates & places and Maitland's death info. I'm surmising you are from the Hauser side, but we would appreciate any information you have on either Maitland or Ethalyn.
Thank you. Debbie

Great Grandfather was an inmate in the Brule Poor Farm

My husbands Great Grandfather was an inmate in the Brule Poor Farm in 1940. We found him listed in the census records. I have found he died on June 14th, 1942, in Union County. I would like to know where he is buried. Does anyone know where the indigent would have been buried in 1942?

My grandfather was married for a short time to Susie Hafner and they lived across the road from us when we were kids. They were divorced and we never saw her again, but I know she has family. I have met some of her grand kids. I can find a gravestone in St Michaels Cemetery in Sioux Falls, SD, USA, but I don't know if that's the right person because there is a similar name (different birthdates) in Texas. Can anyone verify or validate? I would like to get accurate birth/death dates and marriage dates. I met some of her grandchildren and would like to contact them again. I believe they were from Illinois or Indiana, but I think Illinois.

I too would like to contact the ROSEBUD CEMETERY in Bonesteel, SD. I know 2 relatives are buried there and have found their headstones on Find-a-Grave. My problem is that the county & state records do not go for 1905 when they both died, I am hoping to get something from the records of the cemetery as to what caused their deaths.

Hi Cindy, I believe you are looking for the address of the old Witten Cemetary. A relative gave me a copy of a plat book that shows where the cemetary is located. If you give me an address, I can scan and e-mail it too you. She also sent some pictures of the actual cemetary. There isn't much to see. Just one blank headstone, some timbers dividing the grave sites, and an old section of fence. The Catholic cemetary is still there. The Old Witten cemetary is located about 1/2 mile away in someone's pasture. I would suggest getting permission before entering.

Thanks - Sally Collins

I came across a site on rootsweb that listed Hauser Family. This was posted by M. Hauser. What caught my attention was the mention of Ethlyn C. Hauser marrying a Maitland Mabee. About a week ago, I was in Parker photographing Mabee headstones including Ethelyn Mabee July 9 1874 - Nov. 6 1919. If you are interested in the photos or tying links and people together, let me know. Paul

Paul, Thank you!
I had contacted the cemetery, and they were able to tell me that daughters Sylvia and Freedom Hauser, and the brother Isaiah Hauser were indeed buried there, next to William and Susan. According to the records in the office, though, only William and Susan's graves are marked. He was not allowed to give me the death dates or any other information, other than the location of the graves. I was happy to learn of the location, but disappointed that I didn't also get Freedom's death date and/or Isaiah's birth date.
Thanks for your help!

Good to hear from you, Laura. My email is: llt913@charter.net. I don't post my work on ancestry but am glad to share what I have with family. I have some 100 pages of research on Charlotte's line of our family. I did set up a memorial for her on 'findagrave' and requested a photo sometime back but have had no results to date. I, like you, was close to Tripp years ago when I travelled that country but never went to the cemetery. Certainly wish now that I had. Old age keeps me pretty close to home these days. There's lots of family that I've met via email and phone who I would verymuch like to meet in person but will have to be satisfied with correspondence.

Enough ........... I do have one question which you might be able to shed some light on. In Charlotte's obituary her birth year is stated as 1837, other records show her as being born in 1839. Do you know which is correct? Will be interesting to see what date is on her marker.

Regards,
Lyman M. Trollope
Waxahachie, Texas
llt913@charter.net
