I am looking for someone who can photograph the grave of Bishop Grant Lincoln
born: 6 Sept 1868
died: 1 MARCH 1908.

Mr. Lincoln was born in Illinois, died in St. Louis and (according to the death certificate) was buried in Woolawn Cemetery, Knoxville, TN.

I don't know why his body was taken to Tennessee for burial, I have found nothing in my research which has any links to Tennessee.

His wife was LuLu (nee' HODGE) LINCOLN. Perhaps her family was from Knoxville?

Is it possible to get any information regarding the burial from the cemetery records?

Thank you in advance for any help you can provide.

My ggg grand parents are buried there and would like to find them if its possible. They are John s Howell, and Jane Howell. Both died in 1916. Both death records show Stinnett graveyard for burial site.

If you have a state Henry Truett may have died in you can go on ancestry and some of the members have left a picture. Some have the census and wife and childrens names. If this does not help then you can leave messages at myheritage.com also and if they have any matches they notify you. Then familysearch.org saves the family trees of families and they have the census from several countries. Thanks. Hope this helps

Karen
Thanks for your quick reply, her mother died in Hinsdale, Illinois but is buried in Summerville Cemetery, Summmerville, Georgia. Flora E Overbay was born 2-20-1930 in Kingsport, Tennessee and died 7-?-1978. Her mother apparently had more then one husband, and was a Taylor when she died. Flora is on the 1930 US Census with Rolla and his wife.
Thank you so much!
pat

Hi. Yes, I am still here. My grandmother was an Overbay. It is a very confusing family name. It has been spelled as Overbay, Overbey and Overby. It is also confusing because there are tons of Overbay's in Hawkins Co., and Sullivan Co., Tennessee...now! Yet, none of them seem to know anything about their heritage.

Many years ago, a guy wrote a small genealogy book about the Overbays in this area. I found that some of the info was wrong, but it definately helped me in tracing the family somewhat.

I will go back and look at Rolla's info. again and see if I see anything that stands out. I will get back with you soon. Keep looking at my ancestory page for any additions or changes. I will list things as I find them.

Thanks for contacting me and good luck. IF you have any specific questions...I will be happy to assist as best I can.

I don't know if it still matters to anyone, but George Wilcox was married the last time to Eva S Kilmer Wetzel. She was born Everissa Kilmer about 1856 near or in Jackson, MI, then married my 3-greats Grandfather Conrad Wetzel October 8, 1891 in Jackson, Michigan. After he died she remarried George Wilcox May 18, 1895 in Sauk, Wisconsin. Now I've traced her here to Tennessee and have hit a dead end. Any help would be greatly appreciated! I've been trying to track her life for over a decade now!

Thanks!

Karen,
Are you still on here. I have been approached by a lady here in my county who would like to find her mother's people. Her name is Kathy Moore, but she is the daughter of Flora Elizabeth Overbay and her first husband(?) Paul Lewis Brown. Flora Ellizabeth Overbay is the daughter of Rolla C Overbay. I have noticed your tree has been in all of my hints. Do you have any information on this side of the family.
Browns Mountain Cemetery is located off of 70? on Bear Hollow road. It may change to Browns Mountain Road half way to the Cemetery, but the road sign on 70 says Bear Hollow Road, pronounced Bear Holler down there. It's up a ways...The Church is on the other side of the Cemetery. Small Cemetery, Browns,McLains,Starns,Manis...are buried there..I Believe most of these people are related to me. I was just there on Thanksgiving Day. Beautiful, Peaceful place...on the side of a hill surrounded by huge trees and a curved gravel road leading to the other side of the mountain. The Cemetery is in Greene County, not Hawkins.

Thank you, Jerry.
I already have that info because I was able to view the death certificates so I added to Find a grave and even requested photos of headstones or markers and because there are none I know need to find out who would know where the paperwork is to be able to see who is buried where and have no markers. The Cemetry should have these records somewhere where people could look up the plot locations of each individual. By chance would you know who mighr since there is no office on the cemetery property to ask?

I have been told my great grandfather and his brother were both buried in Cumberland Shedd Cemetery and the death certificates also state this cemetery was used. I do believe thought that there is no markers or headstones on their graves.
Names are Traynor Cleveland Godfrey aka "Cleve" and his brother Joseph Wheeler Godfrey. I am hoping the paperwork may lead to other Godfrey's who maybe buried there too with no markers or headstones.

When it rains it pours! The once empty Wair Cemetery on FindAGrave recently had a grave added to it. It is apparently an active cemetery. I thought it might have been lost or destroyed years ago. I contacted the contributor, and the obituary gave me a few clues. The obituary said that the cemetery is on Old Hickory Blvd in Antioch. That doesn't really narrow it down much since that is a long road and the cemetery isn't on any maps. It also had the name of the funeral home. I contacted them yesterday and today they gave me directions there. It can't be seen from the street, but I can now see it on Google Map's satellite images. I plan on going to visit sometime in the next couple of months. I'll let you know if W K Wair is buried there. He is my great grandmother's grandfather. I'm descended through Laura P Wair.

My husband's great-grandfather, John Taylor Wair is buried there with other members of the family. My sister-in-law lives nearby and has promised to take us there. I wanted to find out if William King Wair is buried there also??? I have also been trying to find it on Find-A-Grave. Please let me know if you need more information.
She may be there just not listed at the "Find a Grave" website yet. I did find the 1910 census for Matilda and John Hogue and there is a nephew living with but he was 21 at the time, also shows Matilda's mother living with them. I just don't see anything at the moment on Ms. Rosetta Suiter. Still looking

Thanks for your interest in helping me find information on
my Grandmother's death. She died in 1910 when my Father
was two years old in Montgomery County, TN. My Grandfather Norman Suiter could not raise my Father on his own so my
Father became the foster son of Rosetta's sister, Matilda
Nale Hogue and her husband, John Hogue, in Clarksville. I
once heard my father say that his Mother died of TB so it
is possible she was sent to a hospital out of Tennessee
where she died, but they were poor so that does not seem
likely. My guess is that she was buried in a small church
cemetery which has since disappeared.

I can't find Horton Cemetery on FindAGrave, could you look in your book for the following:

1. Nettie Birchfield Bowman as buried in Horton Cemetery? Her 1935 death certificate from Bakersville only indicates she was buried in Unicoi, no cemetery listed.

2. Death certificates for Nettie's two infant sons (Alfred, April 1931 and Earnest Taylor, Jan 1926) indicate both buried in Horton Cemetery, Unicoi. Are these names in the book as well?

Also looking for Nettie's sister Pollie Birchfield Horton (?? - ??) and husband James Taylor Horton, deceased in 1978. Am looking for Pollie's obituary, but w/o a DOD from the tombstone, am a bit stalled at the moment.

I believe my cousin will have that info and I will get back to you. Yes requesting certificates can become expensive but if you have a relative in that state they can get it cheaper. But I got a lot of my death certificates free from Familysearch.org. They hold a lot of info. Its the Latter Day Saints web site. I don't know if you know about that. A camera Icon appears near the name to let you know a record is available. Don't be discourage cause info is being added everyday. You can google just what your looking for and you will get a lot of search engines to select your choice.

Were you able to finally locate where it is located and what the possible name of it now?

I did not know you could apply for the application of a deceased ancestor, this could shed some light on a few relatives I have- From the Social Security Administration site, how does one go about applying for the application, is it expensive, and do they have to be deceased by a certain year? Thank you in advance.

Wair/Ware Cemetery in Davidson County

Does anyone have any information of the Wair/Ware family cemetery on Barnes Road in Davidson County near Nolensville? It would have been on or near the property of William King Wair. "Thomas Taylor and Benjamin Branch of Nashville, Tennessee and Related Families" by Ethel Taylor Ford mentions Martha Ann Wair being buried in this cemetery. Family stories also mention Edward Carney Jones (son of Laura P Wair Jones) being buried here when he died (sometime between 1884 and 1900). Carney Jones is said to have been exhumed by his sister, Minnie Jones Steele, and moved to Mount Olivet Cemetery in Nashville. This was probably around the time of the deaths of her step father, Thomas White (died 1911), and her husband Jesse Allan Steele (died 1912).
I know roughly where the Wairs lived, and can locate James Wair on a map of Davidson County from 1907. I’ve driven down Barnes Road and looked at the satellite images from Google maps, but I don’t see any hint of a cemetery. I can’t find anything in the Davidson County Cemetery Survey about this. It is possible that all of the graves were moved to public cemeteries such as Mount Olivet, but I haven’t been able to get any information without an internment date. I’ve looked at the family plots for both of Edward Carney Jones’ sisters, but he is not located in either section. Does anyone have any details about this cemetery, the people buried in it, or if it still exists?
