Danish Military Question
I have an image of a soldier with a 'bear cap' holding a rifle with a bayonette and at the bottom it says the following:
"Gardist ved Livgarden til Fods. - Carl Heinrich Göttsche, 3. Comp: Nr. 72".
I can sort of guess the meaning of it but would like to know for sure what it says. The photos I have seen on one of the Danish sites re military uniforms do not match the image that I have. I have attached the image but please be patient as it is rather large. I would be interested in the time period that the image was taken as either Carl Heinrich Göttsche himself or his son Heinrich Göttsche immigrated to Michigan around 1866.
Any help would be appreciated.
