I recently learned through a "family story", that my GGF was murdered in Florida. He as a farmer and trapper in Moore Haven, Florida in the early 1900s. When he did not return from trapping, his oldest son went to find him. He was found robbed and dead in his boat. They buried him along the river in his boat. Years later, my GU went to find him and move him to a proper cemetery, but, the government had moved the river and they could not find him.

Now, years later, the land is much more developed and I was wondering if someone had ever found him. And, if they did, would the body have reported to the local police? Does anyone what steps I should take now, over 100 years later? If it helps, the family story does mention a very specific place.
