Lawton, Okla., Dec.27 -
Deputy United States Marshal Smith of Ryan, I.T., yesterday
shot and killed C.F. Allison, a squaw man of the Chickasaw
nation. The killing occured two miles south of Waurika on
the Oklahoma side and was the result of Allison's resisting
arrest.
Given the command to give up his arms, he drew his revolver
and opened fire on Smith, who shot him in self defense.
Christmas day near Sugden, Allison had held up and attempted
to rob J.H. Cunningham of that place. Cunningham yesterday
made complaint against Allison and a warrant for his arrest
was placed in the hands of the marshal. Allison leaves six
children of the Chickasaw blood who hold land in that nation
totalling 1,600 acres.
