The prison was still under contruction at that time and portions of the north addition was not completed. Many records prior to 1900 either were not kept and what existed were distroyed when the prison was closed. Early on when a prisoner died and was not claimed they buried them within the prison grounds. Allegitly these bodied were moved to Whitegate Cemetery located nearby. Records exist for this cemetery from about 1910 forward.
