WILLINGHAM , Navajos & Quantrill's Guerrillas?

My family bible has an entry about our ancestor, John WILLINGHAM (1843-1895) being connected to Jesse James and the Quantrill Raiders. I can't find any mention of Willingham in the various lists I've seen. John Willingham lived in several Missouri counties, including Warren, Audrain, Macon. After the Civil War, he reportedly ran off to New Mexico and lived among the Navajos, before moving to Arkansas where he died. Sounds like a plot right out of Hollywood..but who knows? Ring any bells with anyone out there?

thanks!
Sherry
