Hello, I don't know if this works in other states, and it's not even universal in Massachusetts. But, you you go to the Registry of Deeds for the area your family lived in, you can look at records. They haven't digitized all of them yet, often they only go back 30-40 years. BUT sometimes there is a copy of the death certificate among the property records. I think this is when there is an estate issue, i.e. joint tenancy and one of the tenants has died and the other wants to sell/transfer property. I also find it interesting to see other property records. I am curious if this is available in other states.
