What I meant is, for example, Ancestry showed a “match” between a 5th-8th cousin’s tree of Robert Jones, born 1752 in San Francisco CA with a Sally Jones born 1748 in Oakland, CA in my tree. Then, clicking on their Robert Jones’ father’s, father’s, father’s father, we both show Henry Jones, born in 1652 in Los Angeles. I’m saying Ancestry should have shown the exact match of Henry, born 1652 in Los Angeles. I shouldn’t have to click back 5 or more generations on every person with the same last name to see if there is a match. I’m 68 years old and probably won’t live more than another 20 years, so I don’t have the time to click back to the beginning of my “cousins” trees to find a match in my common English names such as Clark, White, Taylor, Russell, Wilson, etc. that Ancestry should have listed.
I know the Birth Location comes from my family tree, but I find it strange that, since most of my British Isles Ancestors are from England back 10 to 12 generations, Ancestry doesn’t show any born in England. Also, I show no German ancestry, even though the Birth Location reports 29% were born in Germany.
But I keep on trying to find a match. I only have about 1800 more 5th to 8th cousins to check out, but if they are private trees or Ancestry doesn’t show an exact match on the original list, it gets trashed.
