My Ancestry.com DNA Results show 49% British Iles, 34% Scandinavian, 6% Southern European and 11% Uncertain.
On my Mother’s side, all come from England, Ireland and Scotland with one Huguenot and one Palatine in the mix. I have many from Mother’s side documented back to and before the 1550, mostly in England. On my Father’s side, both his father’s and mother’s ancestry all come from Germany which I have documented to the 1550’s. I have no ancestors back to the 1550’s that are from Portugal, Spain or Italy.
As a side note, I have found that the vast majority of my “matches” were from the south and very few from New England where I have many Great-greats documented as having arrived in the 1620-1650’s (all from England)
My Family Tree Birth Locations show 62% USA, 29% Germany, 6% Northern Ireland and 3% other. On my mother’s side, I would say about 90% of the British Isles ancestors were from England .
I have searched through over a thousand “matches”’ and have found no information to help me out. I have sent some of my info to several people. I have found wiith some of the matches, where it may show different first names but the same last name around the same year and location, when looking at their tree, have found a positive same match three or four generations beyond what they showed, but Ancestry never picked up on that match.
So far, I have found Ancestry’s DNA project to be useless.
I have recently submitted my “cheek swab” to the GenoGraphic Geno2.0 project for Y and mtDNA search and am awaiting the results of that.
