Hello, I saw your thread, and noticed NC in your profile links. I am so grateful to AncestryDNA. It is confirming the stories my family told me about our immediate NC family ancestry. I wonder if the Finnish/Volga-Ural might be distant relatives of the Sioux? My family told me we were part Sioux. I didn't think so. We have no Midwestern family connections. I was shocked to find out that they had the sound, Sioux, right. I was spelling it the obvious way, but the wrong way. A Native NC showed me a list of NC tribes, and turns out that there was a tribe in NC called the Siouan--of the Sioux language family. I believe they are considered existent today--hmmm, maybe the DNA is proving that not to be the case? NC Siouan language patterns were so similar to the Sioux people that they could meet for the first time and understand each other. Hope this helps, Diana
