I am concerned for ancestry. They have put the credibility of their science at risk because of the name matching which relies on trees produced mostly by amateurs.
"You are conflating DNA analysis with the matching algorithm".
There are indeed several steps in the process but what we receive is -only- the names, username of the living person and the names provided by trees. This is all that we can evaluate by at this point.
I am not saying every tree is bad which some do say but there are certainly issues. First of all, not every tree is great for each person in it. It may be wonderful for several generations but the further back you go the more likely they have problems. Assigning names is an issue and I do not believe that they ignore the ethnicity in what is determined to be your direct line (as opposed to who you match).
