I'm trying to find specific instructions on what to assume from my autosomal DNA results.
If I'm a 96% match to someone-do I only look at the surname matches?
Are these surname matches dependent upon spelling of surnames?
The reason for taking the test was to find those related to X. OR to skip X (brick wall) and go to next generation "Father of X." Since I don't know the name of "Father of x", what can I assume? Can I assume that: If Testee #1, with a 96% DNA match is related to "father of X" that I am also related to "father of X"if there is no surname match? I didn't have the surname spelled the way testee#1 did.
There has to be some guidelines for this that one can assume, no?
Thanks-hope this makes sense.
