Who should I test?

I have a DNA result for myself that has shown me to be closely related to a man and his father who have also been tested here at Ancestry. The problem is that I have no idea who they are or how they fit into my tree. My best guess is that they are related (if they really are) through my mother's family. Unfortunately, my mother is no longer alive. She was an only child so I have no aunts or uncles from her side of the family and her mother was also an only child. (I think this female line would be the logical choice for the relationship.)

I'm wondering if I should retest myself or test my daughter to see if (1) my original result was incorrect with regard to these people or (2) to see if my daughter shows that she is also related thus making it even more likely that we are related to these unknown people.

Which of these options make more sense?
