Thank you, all. This is very interesting. I wonder if the British/German links can be traced back to the migration of my father-in-law's ancestors. I know for a fact that many of them immigrated to Ukraine in the 1800s, then to Canada in the 1900s.
It makes sense that there would be less matches because Ancestry DNA is not available in Ukraine. I did not think of that. My father-in-law has matched one person, a 4th cousin, but it's because she lives in the United States, but that's it!
I guess I just thought there would be more connections, and am a little disappointed.
