The prevalence of NPEs/adoptions will add up over time to the point where one will never be able to identify the most recent common ancestor with most of your DNA matches.

For special populations where a founder effect seems to be making its presence felt, such as early colonial America, the chances are if you could pick a a random tree with lots of those founders and make it "yours", you will find plenty of common "matches".
