Hope you get there. I know about no birth registration! I had a brother, have photo of him, only member of the family ever to have visited his grave - but he never existed. He was born in Aden which a kind person with a knowledge of history pointed out, was part of British India. After having to explain this to a rather snooty library assistant (no internet in those days) I was taken to a corner and told "That is all we have on Aden". In the back of my mind was my mother telling me he had been baptised a Roman Catholic, she was a Methodist. I started on records kept by the resident Catholic priest. When it was realised he was dying and would need burial, apparently this priest said he would not be able to conduct a service if the lad was not baptised. On one page Baptism: W. son of Mrs. B. and Captain B. (at sea). Next page Burials: W. son of Mrs. B. and Captain B. (at sea) - but according to record he had never been born! Good luck with your searches.
