YOUNGSTOWN, OHIO – Orade Peeples Heard, departed this life Wednesday, April 3, 2013, at St. Elizabeth Boardman Health Center.

Mrs. Heard was born Oct. 8, 1921, in Plantersville, Alabama a daughter of Claurd and Vesta Rush Peeples.

She worked for Southside Hospital and Assumption Nursing Home.

Her husband, George Heard Jr., whom she married Dec. 12, 1958, died Oct. 11, 2000.

She was a member of the church, its Keenagers, the Missionary Society and Bible study.

She leaves three daughters, Dorothy Swearingen (Kenneth) White, Greer G. and Dianna Peeples, all of Youngstown; six grandchildren, including Shawn, Tonya, Claude and Yusafia Peeples, all of whom she reared; 11 great-grandchildren; and a great-great granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Fred and Charles Peeples; and two sisters, Flora Peeples and Gladys A. Lee.

Funeral services will be Wednesday at noon at the Third Baptist Church for

Arrangements are being handled by the F.D. Mason Memorial Funeral Home




Plantersville is an unincorporated community in Dallas County, Alabama. It lies near the county's border with Autauga and Chilton Counties. Plantersville was named for the local cotton planters and plantations.
