Hi: There is a connection between your family and mine. Mary Byers is the daughter of my greatgrand parents Albert and Harriet Byers. There was another daughter Maggie and several other siblings, but Mary and Maggie might have been the mother of William who was a Mulatto born in 1878 Ashville. They are in the 1880 census. Albert born 1820 SC, and Harriet born 1846 Alabama. Her family was from Tenn, not sure if that is where they were born, still looking for that information. It seems that William just disappeared after 1880 at the age of 2. There is nothing more mentioned of him. I believe that the family moved to Gadsden. I hope this helped. There is a Mr. Turner who lives in Gadsden, Flatwood, who is a family historian, he was born a Byers, his parents married and he became a Turner. Do not remember his first name. He does not live too far from where I lived as a child. Again, hope this helped.

warm regards.
