YOUNGSTOWN, OHIO – A funeral service celebrating the life of Mr. Napoleon Burt will be held Thursday, June 12, 2008 at 1 p.m. at the New Bethel Baptist Church with the Rev. Kenneth L. Simon officiating.
Mr. Burt was born April 1, 1930 in Arbon, Alabama, a son of David and Rosie Veil Burt coming to the Mahoning valley many years ago.
He was formerly employed as a blast furnace operator with Youngstown Sheet and Tube Company. He retired in 1983 after 31 and a half years of service. He was a member of the church
On June 4, 2008, our heavenly Father cast his eternal light onto St. Elizabeth’s Health Care Center and beckoned him home.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving daughters, Shellie Burt of Cleveland, Juanita Gardner of Oceanside, Calif., and Candace Hobby of Youngstown; his loving son, Howard Napoleon Burt of Los Angeles; his sister, Ella Mae Wynn of Orlando; his brother, David Burt of Youngstown; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, the former Dorothy Kennedy, whom he married in 1951; a brother, Lendsey Burt; and a sister, Majore Taylor.
Friends may call Wednesday from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Washington Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Thursday one hour prior to services at the church.
Interment will be at Tod Homestead Cemetery.
