I am researching the listed surnames (among others...Burnell, Mills, Yarbrough, Purifoy). Right now, I am focusing on Alexander roots going back to South Carolina. My great great grandfather was Charlie Alexander and his son, also Charlie Alexander migrated to Nevada/Ouchita counties, Arkansas with Mary Blakely, who I believe was an aunt. I have no information on this branch of the family. I recently found out that Mary migrated from SC. I see her and my great grand listed on census records in Arkansas, but would like to know from where in SC they came. Haynie is related to this side as well.

I'm searching for links to my paternal grandparents Charlie Parker (b. 1870?) and Ada Crabtree (b. 1873). They were married from 1903-1905 and lived in Texarkana, TX & AR. Ada may have been from Louisiana. After separation, Charlie remained in Texarkana, AR and married "Etta" or "Etter." He died there @ 1957. Ada moved to Idabell, OK. She also lived in Hanna & Vernon, OK before moving to Los Angeles, CA @ 1935. Ada had a younger brother Isaiah Henry Crabtree (b. 1875). Related families are Cox, Crabtree, Duty, McGuire, Parker, and Rose. Any help is appreciated.

Help With Hannah Williamson and Alex Isley!!!

I have found Alex Isley's/Ifley family in 1870 (with his parents and sisters) in Bois D Arc, AR, but I have not found his siblings nor his parents after 1870.

I have found Alex and Hannah Isley/Isely in 1880 (Ozan, AR), even an Arkansas Marriage Record of Alex Isley and Hannah Williamson in 1877.

I can not find Hannah Williamson before 1880, I think her family came over from North Carolina, as did Alex's family, maybe sometime before, during, or after the Civil War.

I was able to find Hannah in 1900 in Rockwall Co., Texas, and in 1910 in Ozan, (Hempstead) Arkansas, living with her son George and daughter Sarah (George was the head).

I found George again in 1920 in Ozan and 1930 in Hope, (remarried in 1920 & '30 to Bessie).

I think the Arkansas Death Record of Hannah Isley I found in 1931 Hempstead, AR is my ggg grandmother, but if it is, why can't I find her in any census in 1920 or 1930?

I need help in figuring out if the Hannah Williamson married to an Alex Isley in Hempstead, Arkansas in 1877 is my ggg grandparents, and why can't I find any Williamsons before 1880. Hannah was born in 1862 in Arkansas, Alex was born in 1857 in Arkansas.
Also, help in figuring out who is the Hannah Isley in 1931 and where is she in 1920 and 1930.

Hi there. I was wondering if anyone knows anything about the Lamb or Hancock family from Cascoe Arkansas? These are the parents of my dad-Willie Gleece Hancock, now deceased. His mother's name was Essie Lamb (A couple of her relatives that I know of are Riller Hogan, who was her grandmother and half Choctaw, half black (slave), and Turner Lamb who was biracial, being the son of a slave and master.) Any info would be appreciated. Oh, my paternal grandfather's name was Arcenauer Hancock.

Thank you,

Crystal

I am searching for information on Albert Carpenter, Andrew Gardner and Robert Lee Palmer. Andrew Grdner died around October 1939 in Ark. I believe he lived around an area called Blackfish Lake. This was in Critenden county. He had relatives living in and around Crawfordville and Julius, Ark. Some of their family members lived in Tenn., Mississippi and Oklahoma. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

James Finley II (1809-1868) and wife Mary (1819-1869) migrated from Wilkes County, Georgia to Union County, Arkansas circa 1848. Their children: James A. 1844; Josephine Mary 1847; John H. David Finley 1849; Leornard J. 1853; Henry G. 1855. According to the 1850 slave schedule the Finley's owned 40 slaves. By the 1860 slave schedule, they were listed as owning 80 slaves. According to the tax schedule for Union County, Arkansas, 45 slaves were of taxable age.

Also James was given several slaves as apart of his brother John's estate (1850, Wilkes County, Georgia). My ancestor was Ella Finley-Ellis (1845-1931).

Any information on the Finley family and their slaves is greatly appreciated.

Lyle

Does anyone know anything about the Lawson family( African American-brothers) who owned Island 70 & 71 in Arkansas between AR and Mississippi River, until the late 60s, when my grandfather, George Lawson, the last of the Lawson brothers died. Does anyone have any information about this family. They also lived in Gunnison, Mississippi, when the water would rise up on the island the would go to town (Gunnison Mississippi) (on the Delta), in boats because the water was so high on the island. My Great-grandfather's name was Morton Lawson, and his wife was Tulula (Scott) I think. My great-grandfather sharecropped land for a White man named John Malone, in Arkansas in the State of Arkanas in an area of fields called the "Finish Cut and the Malone Place in 1872.

(Born in AR)

Their Mother: Julia Brown Douthard (Douthet) Mathews Porter
She was born in VA. with John Porter as wife with three Porter children in 1880. All Porter children born in AR

These are the people I'm looking for on 1870 census specifically.

Now the Vaults -- Martha Ann (Mattie) Wilson married Luther Vault. They had 11 children. They were married in the 1890's. and I have their census results from 1900 on. The family was scattered around, but can be found.

Mattie was the eldest and only sister of all 7-9 Douthard brothers. Her stepfather was George Wesley Douthard. Her mother was Jeanette F.
I am looking for the Hunter and the Brown family.
Mason Hunter was married to Elizabeth Hunter. They had 8 girls. We know that Julia Hunter was from Phillips County, AR. We also know she had 8 sisters. WE know 6 of the 8 girls names for sure. They are Julia, Elizabeth, Polly, Alice, and Jinnie. I located a family that matches this one in the 1880 census of Phillips County, AR. Of the 8 girls, Julia Hunter married (Sal-Saul-Sol)Brown (unsure of the spelling) and had 3 or 4 daughters. Their names were Orelia, Curly, and Earl. Rose was also possibly one of the daughters. This was a Black family, Possibly with some Blackfoot blood. The Brown girls were born in Phillips county.
