YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Mrs. Sarah Ross Jackson, 85, formerly of Cleveland, Ohio who passed away Saturday, April 6, 2013, at Camelot Arms Nursing Home.
Mrs. Jackson was born Oct. 20, 1927, in Atlanta, Georgia a daughter of Jules Sr. and Elizabeth Burton Ross, coming to this area in 1948.
She was educated in the Deland Florida School System.
Sarah moved to Cleveland, Ohio and became employed by Cleveland Community College for over 35 years, retiring in 1993.
She was a member of the Williams Temple Church of God in Christ, where she served as a Deaconess, was on the usher board for over 40 years, in the choir, nurses guild, and culinary ministry.
Her husband, James Jackson, Jr., passed away Jan. 12, 2013.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her son, Jimmie L. (Charlie Mae) Ross; a sister, Lillie Mae Jenkins, both of Deland, Fla.; two grandchildren, Shandra N. (Harry) Ross Collins of Mt. Dora, Fla. and Jamie Ross of Florida; nine great-grandchildren, including Caprice Copeland of Cleveland, whom she helped to rear; one great-great-grandchild; brother and sister-in-laws, who were very close to her, Eld. Louis C. Jackson, Eld. John W. and Gloria Jackson, Supt. Stafford and Bobbie Jean Jackson, Supt., Clarence L. and Jacqueline Jackson, Supt. Eddie L. and Elizabeth Jackson, and Tommy Jackson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by six brothers; one sister; and one great-grandchild.
Services will be Saturday, April 13, 2013, at 10 a.m. at the Heavenly Place Church of God in Christ, 1350 Katherine Ave., Youngstown, Ohio
Friends may call Saturday from 9 to 10 a.m. at the church.
