Charlotte Brown (*not* the daughter of Henry Blackshear) appears in the Thomasville census records 1870-1880. Her husband, William Brown, b. abt. 1850 Baltimore?, was widowed by 1900.
After checking with the Thomasville Genealogical History & Fine Arts Library and finding no record of Charlotte's burial, we are hopeful family or acquaintances of the Brown family could help with burial information.
Some background on Charlotte is that she might have been a cook. A Charlotte Brown, age 22, a cook, appears in the 1870 Thomasville household of Polly Hansell, age 62, born in Va., also a cook. In addition, James Jarrid, 19, a laborer, & Clara Jarrid, 18, a cook, resided in Polly's household.
Charlotte's daughter, Ada Brown (1880-1960), became a cook, which might indicate the Charlotte Brown in Polly's home is our Charlotte of interest.
After Charlotte's death, the family remained in Thomasville. They lived on McLean Avenue.
