YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 1, at the New Bethel Baptist Church for Mr. Thomas J. Ross, 84, who departed this life Jan. 23, 2013, in Las Vegas, while visiting family.

Mr. Ross was born Oct. 12, 1928, in Meigs, Georgia, a son of Thomas and Jennie Hooker Ross Sr.

He was a US Army veteran.
He had been employed as a steelworker for Republic and LTV Steel retiring in 1979.

He was formerly a member of the Price Memorial AME Zion Church, where he served in the Usher and Food Program Ministries. He was currently a member of the New Bethel Baptist Church.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his beloved wife of 62 years, the former Delores Jean Chambers Ross; three children, Linda Ross-Dunbar of Columbus, Ohio, Thomas (Regina) Ross III of Las Vegas and Clarence Ross of Los Angeles; two sisters, Kathryn Livas and Mamie Jackson of Youngstown, OHIO; seven grandchildren, Kendra and Darren Ross of N.Y., Jamilah (Jeremey) Sailee of Clarksville, Tenn., Jordyn Ross of Las Vegas, David and Erin Dunbar of Columbus, and Raydonya Richardson of Ashville, Alabama; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Wallace Ross.

Friends may call one hour prior to the services from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church.
