YOUNGSTOWN – Mr. James Junior Doward, 82, who departed this life Wednesday, March 20, 2013, at Andover Village Retirement Center in Andover.
Mr. “Junior” Doward was born June 2, 1930, in Butler, Georgia, a son of Burton and Nora McCrary Doward.
He was united in marriage to Evelyn Hurley Doward on Sunday, May 13, 1951, in the Cherry Grove Free Will Baptist Church in Tifton, Georgia, and then relocated to Youngstown, Ohio.
He was employed with LTV Republic Steel Corporation. James was a member and former deacon of the Pilgrim Baptist Church. He loved fishing, watching western movies and working on cars.
He leaves to mourn his passing and to cherish his memory, his beloved wife, Evelyn; a daughter, “Daddy’s Girl,” Pamela A. Doward Phillips; two sons, George (Adriane) Doward, all of Youngstown, and Tyrone A. Doward of Sandusky, Ohio; 11 grandchildren, Donnell, Keshon, Kamela Alexis D., Alysia D., Sherman C., George V., Tamika, Monique, Desiree and Dontae; 12 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his two sons, James Louis Doward and Donald Jerome Doward; four sisters, Claire, Caroline, Gladys, and Ella; five brothers, D.W., Oscar, Forest, Reese and Bishop.
Friends may call Thursday, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 28, 2013, at the Triedstone Missionary Baptist Church.
