Colored Doctor Commits Suicide
Dr. R.T. Bailey Takes Own Life Before Going On Trial in Circuit Court
Dr. Robert T. Bailey, colored physician of Central City, Kentucky 52 years of age, committed suicide in Greenville, Ky Tuesday morning, where he was about to go on trial on a charge of illegal operation upon a white woman.
It is understood he took the poison in a colored restaurant. He then walked to the court room where he collapsed in his seat. Greenville doctors pumped out his stomach and sent him on to his own sanitarium in Central City, where he died almost as soon as he arrived.
Dr. Bailey is survived by his widow. He had practiced medicine for many years in this city.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Central City Baptist church tomorrow, (Friday), and interment will occur in the afternoon in the colored cemetery in Greenville.
