I am doing family research and really could use some help connecting to my DaCosta and Teixeira relatives in Massachusetts and beyond... This is what I know so far:

*My great-grandfather was MANUEL JOSE TEIXIERA from Fogo, Cape Verde Islands (West Africa)
*came to MA on the "Irmaos Amigos" around 1910
*came with cousin Franco who died in New Bedford (1920-30)
*settled in the Taunton/Fall River, MA area
*married Ruth Odom had 4 kids :Julia/Everett/Margaret/Ruth
*I know he had sisters/family in Fogo (Villa de S. Felipe?)
*changed his name when he got here to Joseph (from Jose?)

I really want to go to Cape Verde within 1-2 yrs to visit, but I want to do more research so I can actually meet distant relatives. If ANYTHING sounds familiar, please let me know so I can focus my efforts - I'd appreciate anything!
