EVANS-WHITTINGTON, Georgianna M. 80, formerly of Springfield, Ohio passed away Sunday, January 23, 2011 in Detroit, Michigan.
She was born March 1, 1930 in Springfield, Ohio the daughter of the late Elbert Arthur Evans Sr. and Mattie L. McMichael Evans Palmer.
Georgianna worked at WPAFB prior to moving to Detroit and continued to work at a military facility in Michigan until she retired in 1994.
She was a long time member of the Eastern Star Order of the Masons; Deborah Chapter #33, Detroit Court #1 Heroinesh of Jericho, Marracci Court #32, Daughters of Isis, Eureka Guild, H.O.T.C., Malachi Court #1 Circle of Perfection, Charity Assembly #38 Order of Golden Circle; Past Matron of Deborah Chapter #33, Past Most Ancient Grand Matron H. of J., Past Grand Princess Captain of H.O.T.C, Perfect Matron of Malachi #1, One Year Grand Trustee of Prince Hall Grand Pass, Past Loyal Lady Ruler of Charity Assembly #38 and Post Commandress of Marracci #32.
Her memory will be cherished by her sister, Marcelline Massey of Dayton, Ohio; brothers, William (Annette) Evans of Springfield, Ohio, Vernon (Tracy) Evans of Yellow Springs, Ohio; aunt, Barbara Davis of Springfield, Ohio and a host of nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Paris Whittington; brothers, Albert (Trimble) Evans Jr., Paul Eugene Evans and Alonzo James Evans.
A celebration of Georgianna's life will be held on Saturday, February 12, 2011 at 10 a.m. in the Robert C. Henry Funeral Home with Rev. Timothy Hawkins officiating. Burial will follow in Ferncliff Cemetery, Springfield, Ohio. Arrangements provided by the Robert C. Henry Funeral Home.
