Bruno: KY to MO to NM....
I'm looking for a Black family named Bruno who would have resided in KY prior to 1847. They had a son named Charles who was born in MO in 1847 and who very possibly moved to NM.
sorry to have to admit that I'm ignorant of how they came by the Bruno name - my only explanation would be that they were enslaved by someone named Bruno and kept that name. I realize that part of Missouri were 'free', so I'm not sure how or why Charles was born there. I also know that a lot of Kentucky farmers went to MO when their land started to peter out but...I don't know anything about this family, why they took Bruno as a name, why they went anywhere. Family stories are vague....
